New Years Eve

Today is not a nice day.  Cold, windy and ice on lots of stuff.  The feral cat has eaten well this am.  Don't know the sex as you cannot get anywhere near it.  But at least I know it has food to help keep warm.
Got my hair done and am getting into my fabric stash for a valentine table runner and a mystery quilt that starts tomorrow.  Also picked up an old Ward's sewing machine that I will check out and get sewing.
Connie had to stop in El Paso on her way home yesterday due to a white-out blizzard.  She is back on the road now.  Joe and Gabby got home just fine yesterday after a non-stop flight.  So the house is quiet and I miss them.
HAPPY NEW YEARS EVERYONE

Great time with family

Yesterday my eldest son and his wife came to see us.  We had a great family time.  Today is Gabby and Joe's last day with us.  And Connie heads home early tomorrow am as we take Gabby and Joe to the airport.  It has been a fantastic family holiday time.  They will be missed; and the old folks will have peace and quiet, lol.

Christmas Day

We have had a wonderful day.  Lots of good food, laughter and being together.  My prayer is that all who read this had a great day as well.

Another new machine

Yesterday we ventured out and found an old Mason treadle in need of TLC.   I have some of the needed parts and can probably find the rest.  For $20, couldn't pass it  up.
We are enjoying a visit from Gabby and Joe for the holidays.  Daughter Connie arrives Friday.  Not doing any sewing, just enjoying family.

My new treadle

Isn't she a pretty one???   The lady didn't sew, just bought her because she is pretty.  The head needs cleaning and a new belt, plus servicing.  Then she will sew so nice!!  This same lady has a Wheel and Wilson #9 for sale that is just a nice with all sorts of old stuff in the drawers.

Busy, busy

Trying to get bathroom remodel done before family starts arriving; last bit of sewing done; cleaning house; finishing buying gifts.  That's my week!!
Have a blessed day, everyone.

Cold, Windy Day

Wow, what a day to spend inside. This Kansas cold wind sure bites. Except for going to the salon to get a perm, I did just that.
Don is working in the bathroom, putting in a new ceiling and tub surround.  I'm trying to get my sewing organized and put away  so Chrismas guests will have a place to sleep.  The dogs are convinced they need to be inside until May!
Tomorrow we put up the tree.  Church in the am and then I'm off to Sunflower Quilt shop in Derby to meet with the BOM group doing Farmers Wife Sampler.  Don will continue to work in the bathroom and the dogs will beg for cookies and sleep.
Have a blessed day tomorrow, all.

A good Monday

It is very cold here today,  but mostly clear.  Don had lazer surgery on his eye today, which pretty much took up the day.  I'm going to try and get the binding on a Christmas quilt done and then off to the quilt shop early tomorrow and get the backing for Don's lap quilt.
I ordered the new EZ Glide wheels for my Gammill.  The ones on it now are the original and need replacing badly.  Perhaps I can put off getting the computer adaptation if they improve my quilting.
Blessed day to all.

Back from vacation

Returned last night from a trip to our casita and son's home in Corrales, NM.  We had a great time and lots of great food.  Enjoyed visits to my favorite quilt store, Quilts Ole, in Corrales.  Also enjoyed the company of my friend, Robin and her mom, Sandra.  The thimbleweeds Christmas meeting was great.
Now to finishing a few Christmas presents.  DH is doing some repair work in the house prior to family coming in for Christmas.
Blessed day, all.

Another fine day

It is cold and the sky is a beautiful blue this morning.  Don and I are enjoying time with my youngest son and his family this week.  And wonder of wonders, I didn't bring anything to sew.  We are just enjoying family and each other.  Last week I did find some QOV suitable fabrics on sale and bought enough for several quilts.  The local shops are having great sales but I'm trying to restrain  myself, ha ha.
I sincerely hope my friends are having great family times!!!

Cold and cold

This damp Kansas cold goes right through to the bone, lol.  I bought a new winter coat for church as the one I had was way too big.  Also had to buy some new clothes as the ones I had, especially the pants were too big as well.
Spent the day working on Christmas presents otherwise.  Also found some patriotic fabric for half price, so have some different fabs for the next QOV.

Another great day

Spent most of yesterday with the "Queen Bees", a small group of the Prairie Quilt Guild.  There are many "bee" groups within the guild.  Since PQG is so large, the small bees are the best way to get acquainted and make friends.
Will be busy working on Christmas presents today.  It is supposed to be rainy and cold, so a day sewing with fit the bill.

I have my first QOV top done!!!  Here is a pic, but not a very good one.

A great Sunday

It has been a busy day.  Went to church, grabbed a quick sandwich and headed for the quilt shop in Derby.  Met with the other Farmers Wife Sampler class members and enjoyed a happy afternoon.  Returned home in a light rain.  My wonderful husband fixed dinner for us.  Then got all my blocks cut for a Quilt of Valor.   Now to start sewing them together.

Lots of things going on.

I'm working on my first Quilt of Valor in memory of my daughter, Seaman Elisabeth M. Bombe, GSMFA, 11/29/83 - 11/4/07.
And also trying to get some blocks done for the meeting of the Farmers Wife Sample group tomorrow afternoon.  Am behinder than last week, lol.
And I found a wonderful Singer 431G sewing machine in a pawn shop yesterday.  Had no power cord, so got it for a song.  Now it is working wonderfully and I may take it to the group tomorrow.

It's a great day!!!

So far, so good.  Created my first blog, even managed to sign up to follow a blog, lol.  Quilt guild is today and that is enjoyable.  Many members in the Prairie Quilt Guild in Wichita, KS.  Also will be starting a QOV quilt-a-long this Thursday, Veterans Day. I'm doing this in honor and rememberance of my daughter, Liz, United States Navy, 11/29/83 - 11/4/07.
